The cottage has a modern finish but provides a cosy feel. The property is located at The Bay Filey and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. The Bay Filey is home to an onsite leisure centre boasting a beautician gym sauna tennis courts putting green and Gastronomic Pub and Bistro. Walking and cycling routes are in abundance along this coast and there are a great selection of local golf courses. Within an hour s drive the coastal towns of Scarborough Whitby and Robin Hood s Bay provide many seaside attractions. Steeped in history the area is surrounded by historic homes and castles including Burton Agnes Hall Sewerby Hall and Gardens and Castle Howard. Whitby is 18 miles away renowned for its connections with Bram Stokers Dracula and Captain James Cook. Board a steam train and relax as it meanders through the glorious Esk Valley. Visit walled York city 40 miles away famous for its Minster museums art galleries and shopping. Leisure facilities: shared and includes spa swimming pool tennis courts and football pitch. Situated on the coast between Scarborough and Bridlington, this charming Yorkshire seaside resort began life as a small fishing village. With its five miles of sandy beaches and beautiful views, it is not difficult to see why it became popular with tourists in Victorian times, and continues to be so today. The beach is bordered by a long historic promenade, with a Sculpture Trail and chalets for hire. About a mile to the north of the bay, Filey Brigg is a long, narrow peninsula with steep cliffs which are 15 metres high. Filey Brigg’s geology and marine life is impressive, and it is surrounded by hundreds of shipwrecks which continue to enthral professional divers. The Cleveland Way, a 110-mile walking route and the second National Trail to be opened, runs from Filey Brigg to Hemsley in North Yorkshire.
The town itself is home to many vibrant souvenir shops and traditional fish-and-chip cafes. The 12th-century parish church of St Oswald’s is the oldest building in Filey. Every year Filey hosts an Edwardian Festival, featuring afternoon teas, brass bands and Punch and Judy shows.
Attractions within the local area include: Filey Bird and Animal Park; Filey Dams Nature Reserve for wildlife enthusiasts; Glen Gardens; and Filey Museum, which showcases local history. Further afield the North York Moors, Hunmanby, Scarborough and Whitby all offer opportunities for exploration and leisure.
